WAS SOS22 THE BESTEST-EVER STATE OF SOCIAL? WE THINK SO.
Head still spinning with ideas? Then our SOS22 work is done.
The speakers. The stories. The lessons. The Portuguese tarts.
The murmurs of ‘Ferrrrari’ echoing around Optus Stadium.
How on earth can we recap two days of such epicness? Where to start?
How about pole position on Day One?
- The F1 Guy, Vincenzo Landino. Making cool shit and talking to people like they are people. And saying ‘Ferrrrrari’. Rrrrr…
- Thinkerbell’s Adam Ferrier. Challenging traditional creative agency conventions and hierarchies (and some of our speakers) as only Adam can.
- Nextdoor’s Jennie Sager. The importance of building communities around customers and finding your tribe in the post-pandemic world.
- Breakout sessions! Oh, those glorious breakout sessions. You were truly spoilt for choice. From Patrick Ashforth’s dad jokes to the Youngbloods proving ‘promotion’ is the most important P. From PR with David Gardiner to wildflowers and turtles with Tourism WA’s Cory Gale. From Bonfire’s Hayley Boneham talking Maslow to Urban List’s Susannah George taking the APAC by storm from her lounge. From the drooly inspirational Denada story with Jayde Taylor to authentic animal-welfare storytelling with Dr Holly Ludeman.
- Reddit’s David Ray. Talking about the power of building and leveraging online communities to build brand trust.
- And last but by no means least on Day One, Tim Duggan. Delivering a KILLER presentation packed with killer ideas for creating killer ideas, with a killer Corfu backdrop.
Day Two was one not to be missed:
- Aaron Matthews championing sonic logos. Carmen Braidwood raising our on-camera game. Robbie Figg improving wellbeing, confidence and business performance.
- Johari Lanng teaching us to use data to engage customers empathetically. Myles Pollard explaining how to stay calm and creative in the moment and reminding us that passion beats perfection. Shot by Thom demonstrating how to use our phones to create better content.
- Dave Stewart keeping our IP safe and on the right side of the law. Andrés López-Varela announcing Twitter is dead (RIP) and encouraging us to go for Maximum Volume Possible. Dr Kate Raynes-Goldie inspiring us to play our way to better connections and solutions.
- Erika McInerney coaching us on how to smash content and Mike Drysdale explaining why we should gamify it (and embrace those bad ideas as a means of reaching great ones). Dan Bradley schooling us on building trust by design, Marque Kabbaz and Smiljka Dimitrijevic showing us why brands need to do more to benefit society (and how to do it), and Kyra Goodman flying in to share some Reely invaluable video-creation tips and techniques.
Seriously, that rundown doesn’t do our speakers justice, so we hope you took plenty of notes. We thank them all for their insights and wisdom and inspiration and generosity. And accents.
One final Thank you to… you.
Thank you for joining us at Optus Stadium – if one key theme emerged from SOS22, it’s that we’re stronger when we’re a community, so thank you for being part of the SOS community.
Now, go forth into our crazy digital world and show everyone what you’ve learned. And that you’re an MVP.
