Jess Zafarris is a content and engagement director, author, editor, creator and social media strategist responsible for developing and steering high-performance multimedia content for brands, publishers, media companies and personal channels. She is a purveyor of excellence in multimedia content and social media strategy and direction, seasoned in managing teams, editing, publishing, writing, newsletters, journalism, content marketing and SEO.

Her 13 years of experience in this space have included such roles as the Director of Content at Ragan Communications, Audience Engagement Director at Adweek, and Content Strategist and Digital Content Director for Writer’s Digest and Script Mag. She has organically and exponentially grown online editorial and social media audiences both at a personal and brand level. She has emceed major events including Social Media Week and Brandweek, and she has moderated sessions at dozens of large-scale events in the advertising, publishing and design career spaces.

She is also the author of the books WORDS FROM HELL (Hachette 2023) and ONCE UPON A WORD (Rockridge Press 2020) and an educational social media creator who focuses on etymology and word history-focused deep dives and explanations. She has appeared on podcasts including Dear Hank and John, Social Pros, Failing Writers, Yeah That’s Probably an Ad, and Author2Author. She contributed to the tabletop game League of the Lexicon and the Writer’s Digest Daily Calendar 2020.
