Marc Fennell is a Walkley-winning journalist, an AACTA-nominated director and one of Australia’s most recognisable documentary storytellers. He is the creator and host of the hit television series and podcast Stuff the British Stole, which screens on ABC Australia, BBC Select and CBC Canada, and has fronted more than 500 episodes of SBS’s iconic nightly quiz show Mastermind. Marc also hosts ABC’s hit history podcast No One Saw It Coming.

During nine years anchoring SBS’s national current affairs program The Feed, Marc reported everywhere from the 2019 Hong Kong protests to food-crime stings in California and interviews with survivors of ISIS torture. His interviews with figures including Al Gore, Tom Cruise, Julian Assange and Jennifer Lawrence have attracted more than 30 million online views.

His documentary credits include the Logie and AACTA-nominated The School That Tried to End Racism, Australia’s Greatest Conman?, The Kingdom, the Rose d’Or-shortlisted art-heist series Framed, the Walkley-nominated sports docudrama Came From Nowhere, and the Logie-nominated history series The Secret DNA of Us.

Alongside his television work, Marc has created a string of award-winning Audible Original investigative series, including It Burns, about the global race to breed the world’s hottest chilli; Nut Jobs, examining a $10 million nut heist; House of Skulls, exploring a university basement lined with human skulls; This Is Not a Game, tracing the world’s first internet conspiracy; Corked, investigating scandal in the world of fine wine; and Unreal: When AI Becomes Us, a BBC Studios collaboration exploring the human consequences of artificial intelligence.

A three-time Rose d’Or nominee, Marc has become one of Australia’s most awarded factual presenters. He is an eight-time New York Festivals medallist and the recipient of the James Beard Foundation Food Journalism Award, a Canadian Screen Award, two AWGIE Writers Guild Awards, three Australian International Documentary Conference Awards, an Association for International Broadcasters Award and multiple Webby Honours. The Times (UK) once dubbed him “the cheerful Aussie version of Louis Theroux.”
