THEME: Influence. Innovation. Behaviour.

In 2018, State of Social explored the forces shaping modern marketing, from the mechanics of influence to the realities of innovation and human behaviour. The program brought together Australian practitioners pushing the boundaries of strategy, creativity, and digital culture.

Our first year focused on the three forces we saw shaping modern marketing. The influence of creators and communities. The innovation of platforms and emerging technology. And the behaviour of audiences navigating an increasingly digital world.

This foundational program explored how these elements interact in practice, not theory. Speakers shared real-world insight into how attention is earned, how platforms evolve, and how human behaviour ultimately determines what succeeds. That focus on influence, innovation, and behaviour set the tone for every State of Social event that followed.
