Wish networking wasn’t so networking-y? 😬

Shake hands. Swap notes. Exchange deets. It all starts with Rub Shoulders.

You know that friction point that’s keeping you awake at night? There’s someone out there who’s already ironed it out. Or someone who’s wrestling with the same challenge.

If only you could have a mutually beneficial conversation for 30 mins. If only you could meet, sit down with them, pick their brain.

Say hello to the Rub Shoulders breakout sessions (and all the right people).

Some people love networking. Some dread it. But as feedback from previous State of Socials tells us, everyone wishes it were easier to meet useful contacts for mutually beneficial conversations.

Three dedicated breakout sessions. A bunch of tables. One purpose: bringing people facing similar friction points together to share ideas, nut out solutions and get shiz done.

  • Rub Shoulders 1: Same Problem, Different Company.
  • Tuesday 25 August, 1.20pm to 1.50pm, River View Room 3.
  • Rub Shoulders 2: Same Sector, Different Playbook.
  • Tuesday 25 August, 2.40pm to 3.10pm, River View Room 3.
  • Rub Shoulders 3: Human Search Engine.
  • Wednesday 26 August, 11.30am to 12.30pm, River View Room 3.

Here’s how it works:

  • Walk in. All session are in River View Room 3.
  • Pick your table. Every table’s got a card on it with a topic and a question.
  • That’s it. That’s the format.

From making LinkedIn work to getting the most out of AI. From running social as a team of one to creating short-form videos when you’d rather not be on camera. From the public sector and NFPs to mining, resources and energy to tourism, hospitality and events. This is where you’ll find your people.

No pointless conversations. No wasted time. No pressure. If the conversation isn’t working for you, leave. Pop over to another table, drop in on another breakout, or slide into the Lube Lounge for some caffeinated lubrication. How’s that for friction-free networking?
