What should you bring to a digital marketing and social media conference?
Go to pretty much any digital marketing and social media conference in Australia, and you can usually make a list of stuff the organisers have forgotten that’s as long as Elon’s right arm.
State of Social is different, though. Refreshingly so.
We’ve been putting on Australia’s best digital marketing and social media conference since 2016, so we pride ourselves on thinking of everything. World-class speakers? Check. Bottomless coffee? Check. Gourmet buffets? Check. Portuguese tarts? Mmm. Puppies to cuddle? Woof!
So, do you need to bring much to the conference that’s thought of everything?
Not really. State of Social isn’t really a conference in the traditional sense. It’s a digital marketing and media event and experience, so it’s all about relaxing, learning and enjoying.
That said, if you want to get the most out of our unconferencey conference experience, we recommend all State of Socialites bring the following items with them to Optus Stadium:
- A notebook and pen. With world-class speakers from all four corners of the digital and social marketing universe on stage, you’re going to want to take notes. Lots of them. (Don’t worry if your pen runs dry, we’ll be giving you an SOS25 pen when you register. See? Thought of everything.)
- Your laptop or tablet. We recommend switching on your out-of-office and switching off your laptop to immerse yourself in the State of Social experience. But if you really can’t bear to abandon your inbox, even for two days, or if a pen and pad is a bit analogue for you, then bring your portable device of choice. We’ve got plenty of tables and charging points.
- Your phone and charger. State of Social ’25 is all about recharging your creative batteries, but we’ve got your phone covered too, with charging points in our chill-out zone. So, share your SOS25 conference experience on your socials (there’s a prize for the best share) safe in the knowledge you can plug in and chill out anytime.
- Comfy shoes and plenty of layers. We want you to feel right at home, so dress for comfort. Smart-casual (with the emphasis on ‘casual’) is the way to go. But bear in mind, we set the air-con in Optus Stadium for the majority, so if you tend to run a bit hot (or cold) it’s a good idea to have a layer to peel off (or put on).
- A capacious swag bag. Unlike that other digital marketing conference you’re probably thinking about attending, State of Social is all killer and no filler. And that goes for our goodies too, so bring a bag to take your haul home. But no stealing the puppies from The Dog’s Refuge Home. They’re for cuddles, boops and adoptions only.
- Headphones or earbuds. State of Social is A LOT. That’s why we keep everyone energised with gourmet eats, tasty treats, fresh fruit, as much barista-brewed coffee as you like and our very own carefully curated playlist power tunes to enjoy when you’re taking a timeout.
- A positive attitude. We really have tried to think of everything, but with hundreds of your peers in attendance and a huge program of breakouts and deep-dive sessions you can customise to suit you, it’s really up to you how much you get out of our one-of-a-kind digital and social education and networking event.
With your All Access ticket to Australia’s best digital and social marketing conference, you get the works, including access to ALL the recordings of EVERY keynote, breakouts and deep dive for 12 months. It’s everything you need for the year ahead, all wrapped up in two fun-filled days and one tax-deductible ticket. Is there anything we haven’t thought of? Let us know, and we’ll get onto it.
